France vs Israel: acquisition differences

Advertising is just one layer of acquisition. When a strategy that works in France disappoints in Israel, the problem is often elsewhere: the funnel, sales follow-up, scheduling or competition.

Market size: the ceiling arrives sooner

In late 2025, DataReportal counted around 63.4 million internet users in France, compared with 8.72 million in Israel.

The implications:

  • each test audience wears out faster,

  • tests need to produce insights quickly, with fewer segments,

  • growth requires expanding offers and languages earlier

The funnel: faster first contact

In Israel, many prospects expect a quick conversation by phone or WhatsApp. A French funnel relying on email and an appointment three days later loses effectiveness.

The final decision is not necessarily faster: high-commitment purchases can still have long cycles. Also define a clear policy for discount requests, which are common in some service sectors.

CAC and conversion: different drivers

Instead of unverifiable benchmarks, examine the mechanisms:

  • smaller auctions, but competition sometimes concentrated among a few players,

  • logistics costs and duties affecting e-commerce conversion,

  • trust that every foreign brand needs to build,

  • instalment payments that remove barriers but carry a cost

Competition is both local and global

Israeli consumers buy heavily from abroad: in late 2025, Israeli media reported 52.8 million personal-import parcels arriving during the year. E-commerce retailers therefore also compete with major international platforms.

Tracking and follow-up: two different frameworks

  • In France, cookie consent reduces the share of observable conversions. Conversions API, server-side tagging and modelling become essential

  • In Israel, the most visible constraint concerns follow-up: anti-spam law requires prior consent for electronic advertising messages

Timing: two calendars

Factor France Israel
Working week Monday–Friday Sunday–Thursday
Quiet B2B periods August, late December Tishrei holidays (September–October), Passover
E-commerce peak periods Sales, Black Friday, Christmas Jewish holidays, Black Friday
Typical first contact Email, form Phone, WhatsApp

Key takeaways

Copying a setup from one market to another rarely works unchanged. Keep the method — testing, measurement and allowable CAC — and rebuild the funnel.
